Former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini hints at a return to the Premier League
Sacked Inter manager hits back at criticism and says 'the Premier League remains top'
FORMER Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has thrown the door open to return to England by claiming “the Premier League remains the top” of world football.
The Italian, who led City to the title in 2012, was sacked by Inter Milan after a poor pre-season with the Serie A side.
Mancini, who was sunning himself in Saint-Tropez last week, has been discussing his next managerial role and it appears a move back to these shores is high up on his agenda.
He said: “I’m waiting for a serious project, I’m not rushing.
“Every now and then it’s good to unplug. I don’t have any pre-conclusions, working in England was fantastic. The Premier League remains the top.”

Mancini has been accussed of failing to prepare Inter properly this summer and has been blamed for their poor start to the campaign.
The 51-year-old brushed off those allegations and insisted he was not given enough time.
Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, Mancini added: “Absolute nonsense, that’s the only accusation I’d like to respond to. The last one to pull me into it was [Ruud] Gullit. He was envious as a player, and now he’s also unemployed.
“What does he know that allows him to talk about the work of a colleague?
“Inter have all the data about the work done in pre-season - we’re in the modern age, there’s GPS and computers. I have a staff of serious professionals, no-one can denigrate our plan.
“We have the data, the numbers, everything is recorded. There’s clarity - a team ready for August 20.
“It takes six or seven matchdays - say until September - to be at the top, that applies to everyone. That’s the end of this speech and polemic.”
