Luis Suarez: Barcelona star celebrates with Zootropolis toy after scoring in Uruguay’s 4-0 win over Paraguay
Former Liverpool star kisses a small figure of Officer Clawhauser from billion dollar Disney film
LUIS SUAREZ celebrated his Uruguay goal in strange fashion – by kissing a tiny toy.
The Barcelona star scored a penalty as his national side cruised to a 4-0 victory over Paraguay on Tuesday night.
But the former Liverpool hitman, 29, celebrated in rather unusual fashion.
After being brought down inside the box, Suarez stepped up to take the penalty and sent goalkeeper Diego Barretto the wrong way.
Initially he did his usual celebration, kissing his wrist and three fingers in honour of his wife Sofia, daughter Delfina and son Benjamin.
But after his team-mates walk away he then whips out a small figurine – that is a tiny action figure from the hit children’s film Zootropolis.
The character is Officer Clawhauser, the loveable, overweight cheetah that helps the film’s star Judy Hopps when she first joins the police force.
With children aged six and two, Suarez would no doubt have had to sit through the film that brought in more than £1billion at the box office this summer.
Edinson Cavani also scored twice in the win.
Earlier this week Suarez and Cavani received a strange message of support from Jhon ‘Popeye’ Velasquez – the hitman for cartel lord Pablo Escobar.
He said: “Hello, I am Jhon Jairo Velásquez Vásquez, Popeye, the personal hitman for Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria.
“I come to send a strong salute to the Uruguayan football team, and champions Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani.
“Receive all my love, my respect, you who are the strength of your people, the pride of your people.
“From Medellin, Colombia, I aim to congratulate them for being great warriors.
“Receive all my love and respect from these streets. Big hugs.”
Popeye spent 22 years in prison for the murders of 300 people.
