His destination is not yet known, although he would like to stay in Europe after turning down Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia.

According to , Milan would like to bring Aubameyang back to the San Siro.

The Gabon ace was on the Italian giants' books between 2007 and 2011 but never made a senior appearance.

With Olivier Giroud and Zlatan Ibrahimovic having both struggled with injuries this term, the Rossoneri are interested in bolstering their forward line.

Aubameyang, 32, would fit the bill - but his salary will provide a stumbling block.

Ibrahimovic, 40, is currently understood to be Milan's top earner on around £120,000-a-week.

It's claimed that Auba would need at least double that in order to leave the final 18 months of his lucrative Arsenal contract, worth £350,000-a-week including bonuses, behind.

The striker was tied down to a new three-year contract after captaining the Gunners to FA Cup success in 2020.

But his deal is now prohibiting the club in the market.

Aubameyang last played for Arsenal on December 6 in their 2-1 defeat by Everton.

He was subsequently stripped of the captaincy by Arteta, before heading to the Africa Cup of Nations.

Aubameyang scored in a 1-1 friendly draw against Mauritania, before subsequently testing positive for Covid-19 and missing Afcon as a result.
