Liverpool transfer news: Mario Balotelli deal to Nice sees Jurgen Klopp’s Reds entitled to 30 per cent of next transfer fee

LIVERPOOL will be entitled to 30 per cent of Mario Balotelli’s next transfer fee, according to reports.

Jurgen Klopp cut the misfit striker loose on deadline day after a troubled time at Anfield.

The clause was inserted in Balotelli’s free transfer to French side Nice

Balotelli scored just one league goal after joining Liverpool for £16million in 2014, and he quickly returned to AC Milan on loan.

But the Italian again scored just once in the league, and Reds boss Klopp sanctioned a free transfer to Ligue 1 outfit Nice late in the transfer window.

It almost certainly spells Balotelli’s last chance to prove himself in Europe, with offers for the 26-year-old scarce throughout the summer.

But claims Liverpool are adamant they won’t miss out should Balotelli prove himself at Nice.

The striker will now be hoping to resurrect his career in Ligue 1

Newcastle and Hull flop Hatem Ben Arfa reinvented himself at the French club, and ended up securing a free transfer to champions Paris Saint-Germain.

There is every chance Balotelli could also thrive in the right surroundings, and Liverpool will at least stand to gain some money should he finally get his career off the ground.

But whether Balotelli turns things around remains to be seen, with Ben Arfa claiming Nice president Jean Pierre Rivere has ‘big cojones’ for taking a gamble on the ex-Manchester City man and former Premier League title winner.
