AC MILAN star Alessio Romagnoli admits he’s relieved a £35million move to Chelsea failed to materialise.
The young centre-back emerged as a shock defensive target for Antonio Conte after Napoli made it clear they had no intention of parting ways with Kalidou Koulibaly.
Chelsea made two bids for Romagnoli late in the summer window, including a meaty £35m offer.
But Milan refused to enter negotiations with the Blues, and Conte eventually settled on a £30m deal for Paris Saint-Germain ace David Luiz.
Romagnoli is now looking to put the transfer saga behind him as Milan aim to challenge Juventus for the Serie A title.
And the 21-year-old insists he’s happy to be playing at the San Siro rather than Stamford Bridge, revealing he has a lot more to give under boss Vincenzo Montella.
