LUCAS LEIVA was drafted in as an emergency centre-back for Liverpool’s Premier League clash against Leicester.

Jurgen Klopp turned to the Brazilian in place of injured Dejan Lovren, with Mamadou Sakho falling out of favour at Anfield.

Things were going well for the Reds, with goals from Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane giving them a comfortable 2-0 lead against the champions.

But the Liverpool faithful were soon left gobsmacked as Lucas produced a calamitous error to gift Leicester a goal, passing straight across his box and allowing Jamie Vardy to slot home into an empty net.

Understandably, fans were furious and quickly jumped on Twitter to vent, with one saying: “I honestly hate Lucas so much. Awful awful player.”

Another wrote: “Mignolet’s decision making is awful. Lucas shouldn’t even have been given the chance to make that mistake.”

One Twitter user observed: “When life gives you Lucas, make Perez not Leiva.”

Another exclaimed: “Awful by Lucas, just awful.”

One final tweet concluded: “Lucas should never wear the Liverpool shirt ever again. Time is up. Bye.”
