Pape Souare airlifted to hospital after serious car accident on M4 motorway
Crystal Palace star's Mercedes 4x4 completely wrecked following two-car smash
CRYSTAL PALACE star Pape Souare has been airlifted to hospital following a serious crash on the M4 motorway.
The 26-year-old suffered injuries to his thigh and jaw bone after he was involved in a two-car smash.
According to the , officers were called to the horrendous scene before 12.10pm on Sunday.
London Ambulance service quickly attended to Souare and it is thought that the Premier League star was carefully removed from his Mercedes after the roof was cut off from his car.
He was then taken to an East London hospital where he is now receiving treatment. His injuries are not said to be life threatening.
Crystal Palace confirmed the incident and a statement on said: "Crystal Palace Football Club regret to confirm that Pape Souare was yesterday (Sunday) involved in a car accident and taken to hospital in London.
'The player has sustained injuries to his thigh and jaw bone and will remain in hospital whilst he receives treatment. The club are liaising closely with the hospital on his progress and we obviously wish him a speedy recovery.

The collision happened on the eastbound carriageway of the M4 between junctions four and three.
Unlike Souare, the driver of the other car did not require hospital treatment.
A police statement read: "Police are appealing for witnesses after a road traffic collision on the eastbound carriageway of the M4 motorway.
"Officers were called shortly before 12:10pm on Sunday, 11 September to reports of two cars in collision between junctions four and three.
"London Ambulance Service attended and the driver of one of the cars - a man aged in his 20s - was taken to an east London hospital for treatment. His injuries are not life threatening.
"The driver of the other car involved did not require hospital treatment.
"Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, or the events leading up to the collision, to contact them on 020 8543 5157."
Souare played 34 times under Alan Pardew last season and started in the first three matches of the new campaign.
The Senegalese international, who joined the club in February 2015, was not in the squad for his side's 2-1 victory over Middlesbrough with supporters questioning his whereabouts.
Souare signed a new-three deal to extend his stay at the club in January this year.
