It was the first time the Russian oligarch, 49, has made a public appearance in his high-end vehicles.

The track owner is Abramovich’s former business partner Viktor Kharitonin, another Russian oligarch who invited Abramovich to attend the famous track.

Among the cars that Abramovich took to Germany was a very rare Pagani Zonda R, of which only 15 have ever been produced and that comes with an estimated price tag of £2.5m.

Another car that the Chelsea owner took to the track was a Ferrari FXX, a prototype supercar, one of which is owned by F1 legend Michael Schumacher, who drove it on Top Gear in 2009 when Schumacher was dressed as The Stig.

Kharitonin became the owner of the track in 2014 and during the two-day event, the racing track was closed to the public so the businessmen could play with their toys.

Tatiana Golovlyovo, an instructor at the prestigious track, said: “Usually track days are organised for the owner of the Nurburgring, Viktor Kharitonin.

“This is an exclusive event for the owner and his friends, nobody else (apart from the staff and crew working for event) can enter the property.”

Ms Golovlyovo noted that until this event, nobody had ever seen so much of Abramovich’s collection, which includes a Bugatti Veyron, a Ferrari 488 GT3, a Mercedes-Benz AMG GT3, a Lamborghini Reventon, an Aston Martin Vulcan, and many more.

According to reports, Ambramovich spent the whole first day racing on the “Nordschleife” (‘Northern Loop’), which is the longest section of the Nurburgring at 13 miles long.

On the second day, the businessmen spent their time on the much shorter GP Strecke, which is 3.2 miles long.

During the event the Russian moguls tested the entire range of the Porsche sports cars, as well as single-seated “Formula-BMW” vehicles.

Ambramovich took some time away from controlling the Stamford Bridge outfit, who have started the season excellently with three wins on the bounce until they were held 2-2 at Swansea yesterday.
