THE fall-out between Barcelona and Santos over Gabriel Barbosa’s summer transfer to Inter Milan wrangles on.

The Catalan giants had first-option to sign the Brazilian striker known as Gabigol — and they vehemently claim they were not informed of the Serie A side’s bid.

Barca even threatened to complain to Fifa over the incident.

However, claim Santos sent the Spanish champions an email on August 25 — five days before Gabigol joined Inter — but received no reply.

The 20-year-old was a summer target for a host of top European clubs including Manchester United, Leicester, Juventus and Atletico Madrid.

Gabigol is one of the hottest prospects in world football.

He was part of the Brazil side which disappointed in the Copa Americanetting in a 7-1 victory over Haiti.

Yet there was little respite as he was selected in the squad for the Rio Olympics.

Gabigol scored twice in their maiden victory over Denmark in their final group game, which saw them squeeze through the group stage after two disappointing goalless draws.

Along with Neymar and Gabriel Jesus, he was part of the tournament’s stellar strike force which helped claim Brazil’s first-ever men’s football Olympic gold medal.
