Terry was seen leaving the Liberty Stadium on crutches Sunday, sparking fears that he would miss the clash with the Reds.

The skipper also revealed he is to undergo an MRI scan on Tuesday morning to find out the extent of the injury.

The 35-year-old posted a picture to Instagram, while watching Everton's 3-0 win of Sunderland, of him wearing a compression wrap to aid his recovery.

He wrote: "Ice machine on watching MNF.

"Having an MRI scan in the morning to find out the extent of my injury."

After signing a new contract at the end of last season, Terry has been a crucial part of Antonio Conte's new look side.

He has played every minute in the Premier League so far, with Chelsea second in the Premier League after three wins and a draw.

"I don't know the extent of the injury but tomorrow we will see the situation about his ankle," said Conte.

"But he is a warrior. I am not worried."

If Terry does not recover from his injury in time then Conte is likely to turn to David Luiz after the Brazilian defender returned to Stamford Bridge after a £32million move.
