DECLAN RICE reportedly remains Manchester United's top target in the summer in a potential club-record deal.
But it has been claimed that Marcelo Bielsa's sacking at Leeds could open the door to a possible swoop to sign Kalvin Phillips.
It is no secret that the Red Devils are desperate to bolster their midfield at the end of the season, with Rice and Phillips on their wish list.
West Ham are said to value Rice at a whopping £120million following another standout campaign at the London Stadium.
But despite the hefty fee, the state that the 23-year-old is their No1 priority.
Rice, who has two years left to run on his contract, is facing an uncertain future in the East End with it understood he will assess his options in the summer.
The MEN state that failure to secure Champions League football for next term could prove to be a stumbling block in United's quest to secure his services.
Meanwhile Chelsea continue to monitor his situation with the Hammers as they weigh up a move to keep him in the capital.

Should United fail in their approach for Rice, they will likely turn their attention to his England international team-mate Phillips.
The MEN do acknowledge that landing the 26-year-old could prove difficult due to the heated rivalry between Ralf Rangnick's side and Leeds.
But they insist that with his mentor Bielsa no longer at the club, Phillips could follow in the footsteps of the likes of Eric Cantona, Rio Ferdinand and Alan Smith and swap Elland Road for Old Trafford.
And they report that the player is unlikely to want to play in the Championship should the Whites fail to beat the drop having been dragged into a relegation fight.
Along with a midfielder, United are also set to bring in a striker with Rangick 'losing patience' with Cristiano Ronaldo.
Napoli marksman Victor Osimhen has been earmarked as an option, with Arsenal also in the race to sign the Nigerian star.
