‘Pathetic and appalling’- ex-ref hits out after two Rangers ‘goals’ ruled out for offside against Motherwell
FORMER referee Steve Conroy has hit out after two Rangers 'goals' were ruled out for offside against Motherwell.
Alfredo Morelos twice had the ball in the net in the second half of the 2-2 draw with the Steelmen but was denied on both occasions by the linesman's flag.
Speaking about the Morelos flashpoints, Conroy said: "That's how I see it.
"From the limited angles we've been able to have a look at, it looks offside.
"In the old days when Des and I were doing it, we were taught to look at the lines where the grass was cut.
"It's pathetic in this day and age that we're looking at it and going, 'he looks closer to where that grass is cut'.

"It's appalling. Both of them would have been called by VAR."
Des Roach added: "The decisions for me were very, very marginal. Very marginal indeed.
"The second one, you've got the paint of the 18-yard box, again he's got one foot on the line and one foot behind it.
"If we had VAR, and we would only refer to VAR because a goal had been scored, those would have been highlighted.
"The angles weren't particularly great so I would like to see it properly but it was very, very marginal. Just offside."
