Wayne Rooney left out of Manchester United’s Europa League squad for Feyenoord clash
Jose Mourinho has omitted his captain for clash in Rotterdam — while Antonio Valencia and Luke Shaw also miss out
WAYNE ROONEY is the shock omission from the Manchester United which will travel to Feyenoord for their Europa League opener.
Jose Mourinho had earlier confirmed Marcus Rashford was set to start in Rotterdam.
Antonio Valencia and Luke Shaw are other regular starters to miss out — while Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Jesse Lingard are other notable omissions.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic , Paul Pogba and fellow new signing Eric Bailly are all included and could make their European debuts for the club.
Bastian Schweinsteiger has, of course, been left out.
United will look to get off to a good start in Rotterdam, and victory in the competition will see them become just the fifth team — after Ajax, Juventus, Bayern Munich and Chelsea — to have won all three major European trophies.
