Harry Kane says ‘I don’t care whether I’m nine or ten… I’ll still score’ after being forced out of position by Vincent Janssen’s arrival
England striker insists he is not bothered by his new withdrawn attacking role
HARRY KANE says he doesn’t care whether he p[lays up front or behind the striker for Tottenham… He’ll still score goals.
The England forward has fired in over 30 goals for Spurs in each of the last two seasons but has found himself in a more withdrawn role this season.
Vincent Janssen was brought into White Hart Lane this summer to help ease the pressure on Kane upfront.
The 23-year-old has been used behind the main striker so far this season, but Kane says his different role has not affected his confidence in front of goal.
Speaking to BT Sport, Kane said: “Vincent Janssen has come in and done very well. He’s a great player and different type of player to me.
“He likes to be up there, No9, holding it up and bringing others into play which kind of suits me.”
“Sometimes, you get man-marked as a striker and you don’t get that much time on the ball so it just frees up that space.
“Nine or ten, I like playing both. I like to score goals and I feel in both positions I can score goals.”
Kane has been named in the Tottenham attack for Wednesday’s opening Champions League group match against Monaco.
And he revealed the thing he is most looking forward to in Europe’s elite competition.
Kane added: “The balls… Playing with that ball.
“Going out there with the Champions League ball and the music.”
