‘Sometimes in the bedroom, sometimes in the bath’ – Palmeiras boss explains why a three-man defence is like having sex

PALMEIRAS boss Abel Ferreira has likened a three-man defence to having sex.

The Portuguese coach has reportedly penned his own book, which he has gifted to each of his club's employees.

Titled 'Cold Head, Warm Heart', the book attempts to tell Ferreira and his staff's stories since joining the Brazilian club in November 2020.

According to Portuguese paper , Ferreira makes a bizarre comparison within its pages.

It reads: "Building the defence with three players is like making love.

"Sometimes it's in the kitchen, sometimes in the living room, sometimes in the bedroom, sometimes in the bath.

"But it's always with the same goal. In the construction of our team.

"It is also like this: sometimes with the low side, sometimes with the midfielder entering the middle or on the central side, other times with three defenders… Only the players change.

"Because the idea is always the same: build in threes and ensure more fluidity in the construction and safety when losing the ball."

Ferreira's side, three-man defence and all, recently pushed Chelsea all the way in the Club World Cup final.

Not one to mince his words, he took a swipe at the Blues after the game.

The 43-year-old said: "Do you know why I’m sad sometimes?

"Do you know how many Englishmen started with the team? How many Brazilian men played in my team? It's food for thought for you.

"Sometimes people don’t understand that we are not on a level playing field. Now we’ve done a lot and we have a lot to be proud of. I don’t pass the buck to anyone, it’s always with me but it’s also about competence.

"That’s why I’m saying you have to ask our opponent how many English players are starting in Chelsea. I mean this is an English club all right? How many of them started with Chelsea?"
