Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta on nine-man PSG shortlist to become new boss and replace Mauricio Pochettino this summer

MIKEL ARTETA is on Paris Saint-Germain's shortlist of potential Mauricio Pochettino replacements, according to reports.

The former Tottenham manager is expected to be sacked at the end of the season after his side's shocking Champions League exit at the hands of Real Madrid last week.

Despite Pochettino still being in position, PSG are reportedly planning for his successor.

According to L'Equipe, Arsenal boss Arteta is one of the more 'left-field' candidates catching PSG's eye.

They claim that his work with the Gunners has not gone unnoticed, and that his ties with the club as a former PSG player stand him in good stead.

Should Arsenal finish in the top four, however, the French side accept that prising him from North London would be difficult.

Top of PSG's list has long been Zinedine Zidane, although the former Madrid coach is unlikely to consider the role.

Brought up in Marseille, a traditional rival city of Paris, Zizou would rather take the France national team job, should Didier Deschamps depart after the World Cup.

In addition to his Marseille ties, Zidane is also believed to be unimpressed with how PSG are run.

PSG also admire Massimiliano Allegri of Juventus, while they could target Tottenham boss Antonio Conte.

The Italian's feisty personality is said to appeal to Paris chiefs.

Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi is impressing in Serie A this season, and is liked by PSG sporting director Leonardo.

Manchester United target Erik ten Hag is on the French club's radar, with his agent Mino Raiola having reportedly already tried to get him the gig in 2019.

Lucien Favre, who was in talks with Crystal Palace last year, could enter the frame having previously impressed with Nice.

While current Nice boss Christophe Galtier could also get the nod, having guided Lille to Ligue 1 glory ahead of PSG last season.

Another outside option could be the club's former midfielder Thiago Motta, who is currently managing Spezia in Serie A.

The former Italy international played for PSG between 2012 and 2018, and also managed their Under-19s during the 2018-19 season.
