MANCHESTER CITY are covering the Etihad pitch with garlic to stop parasites attacking the turf.
Litres of liquid were reportedly sprayed over the pristine surface by ground staff following Wednesday's 4-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach.
Bugs can infiltrate the ground and munch roots, leading to poor and damaged growth.
That's where the garlic comes in.
The strong-smelling member of the onion family is sprayed as a way of fumigating soil and compounds in it kill parasites.
The preventative measure is also used on pitches at the club's Football Academy and is something that has been going on for a couple of years.
