NEWCASTLE are reportedly planning a repeat of their £90million January transfer spree this summer.
And £60m-rated Benfica striker Darwin Nunez is at the top of Eddie Howe’s list.
claims the Uruguay international, 22, is Newcastle’s ‘prime’ target after they failed to sign him in the winter window.
Toon reportedly failed with a £50m offer for Nunez, who has 20 league goals in just 22 matches this season.
And they ended up splashing out £25m on Burnley’s Chris Wood instead, with Premier League survival now all-but secured.
However, Howe remains determined to bring Nunez to England, despite Benfica ramping up the price-tag to £60m.

That’s because the hitman has plenty of interest from elsewhere.
Manchester United have been watching Nunez amid speculation over Cristiano Ronaldo’s future.
Liverpool are also keeping an eye after raiding the Portuguese league for Luis Diaz - who has become an instant hit.
And West Ham remain keen after seeing their £37m January deadline day bid for Nunez rejected.

Newcastle also hope to make Matty Cash’s loan from Aston Villa permanent, while also wrapping up a deal for Lille centre-back Sven Botman.
But Nunez is seen as the man who could really transform Toon into European hopefuls,
The poacher is in his second campaign with Benfica, netting 14 goals in all competitions last term.
But this season has seen Nunez strike 25 times across the board, including an impressive 20 in the league.

Despite his tally, Benfica are languishing in third place, 12 points behind leaders Porto.
And after becoming a regular for Uruguay with eight caps since his 2019 debut, Nunez could be tempted by a move to England’s top flight.
