Euro 2028 will be hosted in UK and Ireland with Uefa set to confirm tournament on April 7
UEFA are set to announce that Euro 2028 will be hosted by the UK and Ireland.
No rival bidders have come forward before Wednesday’s deadline and, barring any last minute entries, the British Isles' joint proposal will get the nod.
Matches will be played in England, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland - providing Government guarantees are received by a deadline at the end of this year.
Uefa will re-open the bidding process if they are not, but no issues are expected.
Russia considered pitching for the summer tournament but plans have been abandoned after they invaded Ukraine.
Turkey have also been urging Uefa to consider them for 2028 or 2032.

But they are believed to have decided against challenging the British and Irish.
Co-hosting rules mean none of the five host nations are likely to qualify automatically.
And Uefa are expected to expand the format to include 32 teams – up from 24 at Euro 2024 in Germany.
Required Government guarantees include security, marketing, tax and visa commitments, among others.

Italy are also expected to confirm their intention to bid to host Euro 2032.
