Manchester United legend Giggs is now only 32 matches in front of Barry in the all-time list.

With 33 league matches to go this campaign, the 35-year-old could even break the record by the end of the season.

And if the high-flying Toffees continue their winning form, the experienced ace sees no reason why he cannot achieve that feat by next summer.

Barry said: “That will be some going to play every game this season.

“I’m not sure that’s going to be possible. But, you know, why not? There’s 33 left, it’s a little target. If the team keeps winning then I’m sure the manager will keep the same team.”

ALL-TIME PREMIER LEAGUE APPEARANCES

1. Ryan Giggs - 632
2. Frank Lampard - 609
3. Gareth Barry - 600
4. David James - 572
5. Gary Speed - 535
6. Emile Heskey - 516

Barry is third on the list of appearance makers behind Giggs and Chelsea legend Frank Lampard, who stands on 609 games.

And the veteran is delighted to be up there among such stellar names.

Barry said: “It is something you’re going to look back on more when you finish but when you hit 600 it’s hard not to think about it and realise it’s a lot of games.

“I’m delighted to have reached that with the two lads ahead of me. Giggs and Lampard are two great names to be in there with.”
