SPUR OF THE MOMENT

Ex-Tottenham star Serge Aurier sent off for dissent in first-half of FRIENDLY for Ivory Coast against England

But he left his international team-mates one man down before they even got a breather in the friendly match which England won 3-0.

Aurier was first booked in the 32nd minute and then again just eight minutes later.

Ivory Coast were already one goal down following Ollie Watkins' opener on the half-hour mark.

Then just minutes following Aurier's sending off, Raheem Sterling doubled England's lead.

The defender was first carded for a late tackle but was then shown red for arguing with the referee during a later incident.

Aurier was known as a liability during his four years at Spurs, having signed in 2017.

A big personality on and off the pitch, keeper Joe Hart, who spent the 2020–2021 with Tottenham, revealed they constantly clashed.

Hart said on : "Serge Aurier, I loved arguing with and fighting with after training. I loved it.

“I suppose if you’re an outsider looking in and you didn’t know what you were doing, you would be like ‘Joe Hart is chirpy, who does he think he is speaking to him? He’s second choice at Tottenham.’

“But they loved it, I know they loved it. There would be days were I would be dealing with world class players and I couldn’t get anywhere near it.

“But they couldn’t get their head around why I was still standing up going ‘you’re miles off it, I’m not even trying and you’re celebrating when you score’.”
