Blackburn Rovers close to completing deal for former Manchester United defender Wes Brown
Ex-Sunderland star Wes Brown on the verge of joining Owen Coyle's side
BLACKBURN Rovers are on the verge of completing a deal for former England defender Wes Brown.
The Championship side’s boss Owen Coyle confirmed that the club are currently in advanced talks with the 36-year-old.
Ex-Manchester United man Brown is currently a free agent following his release from Sunderland this summer after a five-year spell with the Premier League side.
The veteran had been training with the Ewood Park side during pre-season but a thigh strain scuppered the deal being completed earlier.
Rovers have allowed Brown, who won the Champions League twice during his time at Old Trafford and played over 250 games for the Red Devils, to undergo his rehabilitation with them.

And after proving his fitness with their Under-23 side, Coyle is just waiting for the thumbs up from the board to push through the move.
Coyle said: "As soon as I get the green light from the owners that I can get that over the line, I'll pursue it vigorously.
"The proposal has been sent, it's just to come back with a yes or a no. We kick on from there."

Blackburn travel to Leeds United in the EFL Cup on Tuesday, and Coyle hopes to push through the deal for Brown in time to include him in his squad for the clash at Elland Road.
Speaking to BBC Radio Lancashire, Coyle added: "Wes is fit and ready to play. We've had daily chats, he is an outstanding man and think he is in good shape to play now.”
