It was his strike on the final day of last season against Brighton that secured promotion to the Premier League for Boro.

That capped off an impressive first campaign on Teesside for Stuani following his £3.6million arrival from the La Liga club a year ago.

Despite his departure, the forward remains a big favourite with Espanyol supporters after his two-year spell there, and he admitted he could reappear in their colours again one day.

Middlesbrough fans should not be worried, however, as any potential switch is still some time away according to the 29-year-old.

Speaking to Marca, he added: “Now I'm enjoying the Premier League.

"I'm fulfilling the dream of playing in the Premier League and I enjoy it. Last year we got promotion and this season we started well.

"Our goal is to stay in the division. On a personal level, it is an excellent experience."

Boro boss Aitor Karanka will hope to have the attacker back available for Tottenham’s visit to the Riverside on Saturday.

Stuani missed the 3-1 defeat at Everton last weekend with a groin problem.
