Was leather shoe found in Roman burial ground a forerunner to the Predator?

THEY say the Adidas Predator boot is a true revolution..and many a world class footballer will swear as much.

But maybe they're just a modern day version of footwear that was popular in Roman Times.

For a recently discovered Roman leather shoe has evoked many a comparison with the Predator worn by the likes of David Beckham, Lionel Messi, Zinedine Zidane, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard,  Petr Cech,  Dimitar Berbatov, Alessandro Del Piero and Robin van Persie.

No one can be sure of the Roman version 'looked as good as it felt'.

And Ancient Romans were famous for wearing sandals attached to the foot by leather cords, straps or braided materials.

But this latest discovery in a Northumberland burial ground certainly isn't legions away from the ideas dreamed up fashion-conscious designers at Adidas .
