Juventus thrash Cagliari to take Serie A top spot from Napoli after their goalless draw at Genoa
The champions moved back to the summit after a comfortable win, while Edin Dzeko was on the score sheet for Roma
Napoli's hot streak came to an end at Genoa as a goalless draw saw them surrender top spot to reigning Serie A champions Juventus.
Boosted by the goals of Polish striker Arkadiusz Milik, last season's runners-up had stormed into the early lead in 2016-17 but they hit a brick wall at the Luigi Ferraris.
Marek Hamsik hit the bar in the first half with Jose Callejon enjoying a pair of promising chances after the break, but it was perhaps Genoa who should have won through a late Giovanni Simeone effort.
Juve reached the summit by humbling Cagliari 4-0 in Turin.
Goals from Daniele Rugani, Gonzalo Higuain and Dani Alves and a Luca Ceppitelli own goal saw the Scudetto holders leapfrog Napoli, while the promoted Sardinians suffered a third straight defeat on the road.
Also hitting new heights was Mauro Icardi, whose two goals for Inter Milan downed Empoli 2-0 and installed him as the league's top scorer.
