Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp swears on live TV as he asks why EFL Cup win wasn’t on the telly
German says all matches are shown in his homeland after routing Derby 3-0 in television blackout
JURGEN KLOPP celebrated Liverpool’s 3-0 EFL Cup win over Derby by dropping an F-bomb on live TV.
The Reds chief was asking a SkySports reporter why his side were not on television.
And, thinking he could not be heard, he said: “They did not show this game on TV? They show every f***ing game in Germany.”
Pete Colley put his hand over the microphone and relied: “I’m covering this.
“People don’t want to hear you swearing, they think you’re a good family man.”
To which Klopp cheekily blamed his press officer, adding: “I learnt it from Matt McCann.”
The cheerful German then smiled and shrugged his shoulders before the interview continued,
Klopp has been known to ask press officer McCann for permission to swear – including after defeat to Manchester City in last year’s League Cup final.
Klopp made seven changes from the side that beat Chelsea 2-1 last Friday with keeper Loris Karius making his Reds debut.
But the German stopper was nothing more than a spectator as fellow new-boy Ragnar Klavan, Philippe Coutinho and Divock Origi comfortably downed the Rams.
Klavan – who joined from FC Augsburg in the summer – made the most of some dodgy Derby defending to fire in Coutinho’s corner for his first Liverpool goal.
The Brazilian completed a smart to make it two after the break before setting up Origi to blaze past Jonathan Mitchell and put the Reds out of sight just four minutes later.
Nigel Pearson’s side are now without a win since beating Carlisle on penalties in the previous round.
