IT was more heartbreak for Celtic in an Old Firm cup semi-final as Rangers B ran out Glasgow Cup winners on penalties.
The sides couldn't be separated in a 2-2 draw with Ben Wylie missing the decisive kick in the shoot-out.
Celts' frustrations boiled over after the spot kicks with keeper Tobi Oluwayemi held back by players after squaring up to Murray Miller.
The pair met at the Rangers Training Centre this afternoon in the semi-final of the Glasgow Cup.
The Hoops fielded winger Mikey Johnston and £7million defender Christopher Jullien in their starting XI.
Alex Lowry and Leon King were in the Rangers XI that started out the well-contested clash.
The visitors took the lead after 12 minutes and it was a well-worked goal.
Dembele linked well with Johnny Kenny down the Celtic right and the Republic of Ireland youth international squared the ball across the face of goal for Johnston to tap home.
The Hoops pushed for a second goal as Ben Wylie flashed a shot just wide from a good opening.
Rangers grew into the game though and Charlie McCann forced Oluwayemi into a save with a strike from the edge of the box.

Rangers did find the leveller just beyond the half-hour mark – and what a strike it was.
Robbie Fraser drove into the Celtic box down the left-hand side and picked out Ross McCausland on the edge of the box.
He didn’t have to break stride and took the pass on the volley to find the bottom corner.
Johnny Kenny found the sidenetting after a good through-ball from Johnston as the half ended all-square.
There was half chances at either end at the start of the second period before Celtic retook the lead.
Dembele with an excellent piece of skill to turn his man on the halfway line and drive 30 yards down the Celts’ right, evading challenges.
He picked out Ben Summers inside the area who took one touch to control and the other to poke the ball beyond the keeper.
Jullien went down with an injury after an awkward landing in an aerial duel but the Frenchman was able to continue.
Celtic were 13 minutes from the Glasgow Cup final when Rangers again hit back to square the game.
McCann again involved with a fabulous little chip over the Hoops back line and Cole McKinnon snuck in to roll the ball by Oluwayemi.
Both sides had chances to win it but nothing materialised and the tie went straight to penalties.
Ben Summers, Leon King, Mikey Johnston and Cole McKinnon were perfect with their spot kicks.
Adam Brooks then rolled his down the middle to hand Celtic a 3-2 lead, which Lowry responded to with a Jorginho-esque spot kick.
Joey Dawson's goal was cancelled out shortly after by Robbie Fraser who also went down the middle.
Wylie saw Celtic's fifth penalty saved before McCann slotted home the winning kick.
