Everton flop Oumar Niasse finally scores his first goal for Toffees – but still has no future under gaffer Ronald Koeman

RONALD KOEMAN has written off £13.5 million Oumar Niasse – despite finally opening his Everton account.

Niasse was hailed as a superstar by previous gaffer Roberto Martinez when he brought him from Lokomotiv Moscow, but has been an unmitigated disaster.

Koeman wasted no time in revealing the Senegal hitman had no future soon after he took over at Goodison.

And he is in no mood to change that opinion despite Niasse, 26, scoring in a rare run-out for the Under 23s in Monday’s 5-0 win at Arsenal.

Koeman insisted: “He’s still a contracted player at Everton, but I don’t think that changes anything. I mentioned before the season started that he’s a player who will not be in my plans but he’s under contract and needs game-time for if there is interest from other clubs.

“Normally, we have enough strikers and different strikers to what he is. I prefer these people and not Niasse in the team.”

Niasse’s goal prompted a flood of social media mocking from Everton fans, who still can’t believe the fee for a man who has started only two games in seven months.

His strike was greeted with tweets such as “am I that tired after a long day in work and hallucinating or I have really just seen Oumar Niasse has scored?”

Despite tentative pre-deadline inquiries, Niasse chose to stay put despite knowing he has no chance of first team football – a decision which baffles Koeman.

The Blues boss added: “That’s a question for the player. There was some interest in him but not the interest that he liked to have.

“It is all up to the player whether he doesn’t leave, I can’t understand it, but that is normal. Football players like to play football, that’s how I see it, and I explained to him why he was not in my plans for the season.”
