PAUL POGBA has turned down a move to Manchester City, according to reports.

It emerged last week that the Manchester United star had received an audacious offer from his side's bitter rivals.

Pogba, 29, has given serious consideration to City's "flattering" bid.

But according to The Athletic's , the Frenchman's representatives have informed City that their client will be heading elsewhere.

Pogba is set to leave United at the end of the season upon the expiry of his contract.

With midfield general Fernandinho to depart the Etihad, City boss Pep Guardiola is keen to strengthen his engine room this summer.

Pogba contemplated joining the blue side of Manchester, like Carlos Tevez did in 2009.

But he has instead decided to pursue other options.

A trio of Europe's finest clubs are set to battle it out for Pogba's signature.

The main contenders to sign him are believed to be Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and former club Juventus.

All have been heavily linked with Pogba over the last few seasons.

He enjoyed great success in Turin under their current boss Massimiliano Allegri.

While a move home to France could appeal.

Jamie Carragher will feel that City have dodged a bullet.

Discussing the potential move at the weekend, the Sky Sports pundit said: "I wouldn't go anywhere near him. You win the league every year, you get 95 to 100 points every year.

"He doesn't work hard enough as the other players. If Pep could get it out of him fantastic, there's no doubt there's ability – no one has ever doubted it.

"But when you see the creative players City have, Foden, Bernardo Silva. These type of players who are brilliant players and don't stop running, working from minute one.

"That's what makes Manchester City what they are, they're a great team, brilliant manager. I'm not doubting his quality, but he does not work hard enough.
