CHARLIE AUSTIN scored his fifth goal in four games to silence West Ham fans at the London Stadium.
The Saints striker pounced on Ryan Bertrand's 40th-minute pull-back and deflected the ball past a helpless Adrian into the back of the net.
Austin turned provider for the second, splitting West Ham's defence with a pinpoint first-time pass to play in Dusan Tadic, who rounded Adrian to pass into an empty net with 62 minutes played.
James Ward-Prowse rubbed salt into West Ham wounds when he finished the scoring in injury time, prodding home inside the box after the ball fell kindly to him.
The result condemns the Hammers to a fourth consecutive Premier League loss, leaving them in languishing in the relegation zone on just three points.
Southampton, meanwhile, jump four places to ninth in the table.
FACTS, STATS, GOALS & LOLS
- PART of West Ham’s pre-match propaganda is to show fans on giant video screens saying how much they love their new home at the Olympic Stadium.
- DIMITRI PAYET’S delicious backheel on the edge of the area in the 35th minute was the highlight of a dreadful first half for West Ham.
- YOU have to feel sorry for West Ham legend Sir Geoff Hurst being put through this up in the posh seats. At least the prawn sandwiches would have been decent.
- LITTLE Sammy Lee was in the stands to watch five potential England players: Mark Noble, Michail Antonio, Saints scorer Austin, Ryan Bertrand and Nathan Redmond.
- AUSTIN is on fire in front of goal at the moment. He has now scored five goals in four games. Not quite Aguero’s 28 in 27 in the Premier League, but decent.
- WEST HAM were booed off at half-time. To be fair to the locals, this was a dreadful performance.
- BILIC has now lost four of his last five games as West Ham manager - the only win was their streaky result against Accrington Stanley in the EFL Cup in midweek.
- SOUTHAMPTON have now won their last four games in all competitions - keeping a clean sheet in all of them.
- THEY say there is no loyalty in football any more: West Ham fans started streaming for the exits after Dusan Tadic put Saints in control with his classy finish after 62 minutes.
- REFS have authority to book players for crowding round them. Jon Moss should have dished a few out when he denied West Ham a penalty when Feghouli’s shot hit Bertrand’s arm.

WHAT THEY SAID
Charlie Austin: "If you ask any striker, when you're on a hot streak you want the games to keep coming so you can put the ball in the net. For me it keeps happening.
"The manager wants to rotate. We're all fighting for places but as long as we win we're all happy."
Mark Noble: "It could have been six in the end, I think Adrian pulled off some good saves. We’ve conceded 11 goals in three [Prem] games and it’s laughable. On the bright side, I don’t think it can get any worse if I’m honest."
When asked whether the atmosphere was flat at the new London Stadium, he said: "When you're losing it is."
