He was also man of the match in the Scottish Cup final win over Hearts and was outstanding against Celtic in the last four.

His performances have led to transfer interest from down south and the continent.

According to , Aston Villa are one of a number of Premier League clubs looking at the versatile defender.

Teams in the Bundesliga are also said to be tracking the 22-year-old - which is no surprise given his displays against Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Enitracht Frankfurt in the past few months.

Rangers however are desperate to keep him and are said to be demanding in excess of £25m for the former Leicester man in order to even consider coming to the negotiating table.

Bassey himself is thought to be settled at Ibrox and isn't actively pushing for a move away.

However it's said he would be open to talks with the Midlands club, managed by ex-Gers boss Steven Gerrard, who brought Bassey to Glasgow.

Bassey arrived at Ibrox in a £230,000 move from Leicester in 2020.

Capable of playing at both left-back and centre-back, he was more of a squad player in his first season in Scotland before emerging as a key player in the second half of the most recent campaign.

Elsewhere, Rangers youngster Chris McKee has agreed to join Linfield for an undisclosed fee.

McKee, 20, was on loan at the Northern Irish club from Gers during the second half of last season.

He'll now sign a two-year deal at Windsor Park after making his switch from Govan permanent.

McKee said via Twitter: "Delighted to finally get this over the line and sign a two-year deal @OfficialBlues #COYB"

A Linfield statement read: "We are delighted to announce the signing of Chris McKee from Rangers upon the expiry of his contract!

"Chris has signed a two-year contract and will officially become a Linfield player when the transfer windows opens."
