LIVERPOOL legend Luis Suarez is reportedly being lined up for a shock transfer to Atalanta.
claims the Italians have joined the race for Suarez after slumping to a disappointing eighth-place finish in Serie A.
And with the veteran striker looking to stay in Europe this summer, Atalanta could now be in pole position for his signature.
Suarez, 35, is a free agent after leaving Atletico Madrid this month.
He scored 34 goals in 83 games for Diego Simeone’s side, winning LaLiga in 2021.
And Suarez is in demand across the pond, with David Beckham’s Inter Miami hoping to pair him with Gonzalo Higuain in attack.

Argentine giants River Plate are also interested in landing Suarez.
But the player himself wants to continue in Europe for as long as possible.
Aston Villa have been linked, with Suarez’s former Liverpool teammate Steven Gerrard in charge.
And the forward is also ready to rejoin Barcelona on minimal pay if they fail to land Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski.

However, Atalanta have now presented themselves as a viable option.
Suarez would be a regular in the first team alongside Colombian Duvan Zapata.
And Atalanta should be able to give him a decent salary as they prepare for a cash injection from new American investors.
It’s not the first time Suarez has been linked with an Italian job.
Juventus came close to signing him from Barcelona in 2020.
Personal terms were agreed on a free transfer.
But the deal fell through as Juve had already exceeded their non-EU signings for that summer.
