Steve Bruce is the perfect fit to succeed Big Sam, says his old Hull skipper Curtis Davies
Insists Tigers' defender: 'He has done his rounds - an experienced manager who knows the English game inside out'
CURTIS DAVIES insists that former Hull City boss Steve Bruce is the ideal man to replace Sam Allardyce as England manager.
Davies played for several seasons under Bruce and believes the Football Association will struggle to find anyone better equipped to take on the 'impossible job' than his old manager.
Bruce was interviewed for the England post in July while still manager of City and among the front runners to take over after Gareth Southgate has completed his four-match caretaker role.
Said Tigers' skipper Davies: "I think Steve Bruce is a good candidate if they're going for someone like Sam Allardyce in the sense that he has done his rounds - an experienced manager who knows the English game inside out.
"There are obviously lots of potential candidates out there but I don't think there will be many who are better than Steve Bruce."

Davies, meanwhile, is ready for truly tough test against Chelsea on Saturday.
The Blues are smarting from their loss to Arsenal while the Tigers have leaked nine goals in their last two Premier League games.
"Chelsea are like a wounded animal now," he said. "We will make sure we're ready for whatever they throw at us because they know we've also had some poor results and they'll maybe see us as a chance to get their confidence back."
