That's according to bookmakers , who priced Xavi's Catalan heavyweights at 6-4 to clinch his signature.

But there's a clutch of Europe's elite also in contention with Benfica, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich among those interested.

Silva arrived at Manchester City from Monaco around £43.5million in July 2017.

He's since enjoyed a wildly successful period at the Etihad Stadium, landing four Premier League titles.

The midfield maestro has scored 50 goals and provided 56 assists in 280 appearances in all competitions.

But it looks as though a fresh challenge awaits.

Silva reportedly asked to leave the English champions last summer with Barcelona his preferred option.

In March 2022 he told Portuguese news outlet Record: "I'm very focused on this season and it doesn't make sense to talk about leaving because we're in the middle of the season.

"I won't hide that my goal in the coming years, if something good happens elsewhere, will probably be to move to a new project.

"Going into a new project at the age of 29, I'll only finish this contract probably at 34.

"If you ask me: 'what did you think 10 years ago?' My goal was to return to Benfica at the age of 32 at the most. What do I think today? It depends on what happens next summer.

"I'm not going to lie, it's not something I don't think about. I think about it every year. It has always been a goal."

The 28-year-old has 18 months remaining on his contract, which expires in June 2025.

But City have shown that they will sell a player if he's determined to leave.

If he does, Barcelona are favourites with Xavi a huge admirer of his technique and style.

Boyhood club Benfica are next in the betting market at 9-4, ahead of Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid (6-1) and Bayern Munich (10-1).
