But their approach was swiftly knocked back by the Whites after it fell way under their asking price.

It was claimed on Monday that Arsenal were set to wrap up a transfer for the Brazilian this week, but those claims appear to be wide of the mark.

Leeds are in no rush to sell Raphinha with the 25-year-old tied down at Elland Road until 2024.

But they state that despite the hefty asking price, Arsenal are preparing to make a second bid in their quest to bring him to the Emirates.

It has been said that Arsenal have been interested in Raphinha since March, but face competition from Spurs and Chelsea.

Tottenham have allegedly told Leeds they also plan to make a formal offer for their prized asset.

It is understood that if Raphinha was to leave Leeds, a move to LaLiga giants Barcelona would be his first choice.

But it appears that the Blaugrana do not have the necessary funds in order to sign him.

Should Raphinha link up with Arsenal, he could be joined by compatriot Gabriel Jesus.

The Manchester City striker has been identified as the perfect replacement for Alexandre Lacazette.

It is believed that the Gunners are ready to make the 25-year-old their highest earner as they ramp up talks with the Citizens.

It's been a busy week for Arsenal after the club announced the signing of exciting midfielder Fabio Vieira from Porto on Tuesday for £34m.
