Zlat's Ridiculous

Zlatan Ibrahimovic: Man United’s forward has the WORST conversion rate of any striker in the Premier League

Swede star has netted with only 14 per cent of his shots as he has cooled down following blistering start to the season

MANCHESTER UNITED fans were ecstatic this summer when they managed to beat the self-proclaimed best striker in the world on a free transfer.

I'm talking, of course, about Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who left Paris Saint-Germain following four seasons and four Ligue 1 titles to link up with Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.

And boy did he make an instant impact, netting four goals in his first three games, with a brace against Southampton to go with strikes in wins over Bournemouth and Leicester.

Since then, things have gone somewhat quiet, with Zlatan only scoring twice in eight games... And his frustration is visibly rising.

In that run, his shot attempts have gone through the roof - not literally of course - as his total attempts for the season has hit 28 in the Premier League.

That's far and away the most in the league...

With only four goals to his name in the English top flight, his shot conversion rate sits at a measly 14.29 per cent... Good for dead last amongst his fellow strikers.

Midfielders such as Eden Hazard, Kevin De Bruyne and even United team-mate Paul Pogba have a lower rate... But they're not paid exclusively to find the back of the net.

When you look at the numbers of just the strikers at Mourinho's disposal, Zlatan doesn't fair much better.

Only potential midfielder Wayne Rooney has a lower rate, finding the net just once from ten strikes.

The pair sit miles behind Marcus Rashford, whose 37.5 per cent is sky-high by anyone's standards.

Meanwhile, Anthony Martial has unleashed only five shots all season, netting once - in the 1-1 draw with Stoke on Sunday.

All in all, Zlatan had better start finding the back of the net soon, or the leading striker berth will go to a certain 18-year-old England man...
