Rangers hero spotted with Top Gun legend Tom Cruise and fans are all saying the same thing
"EXCUSE me, are you the guy from Helicopter Sunday?"
Those were the words Tom Cruise used to introduce himself to Rangers legend Alex McLeish at a rock concert.
Well, maybe if this was a movie.
After all, that improbable title win back in 2005 was McLeish's own Mission Impossible.
But there was no Risky Business involved here as McLeish, 62 and Cruise, 59, bumped into each other at an Eagles concert in London.
Both Hollywood icon Cruise and the former Scotland and Rangers boss were at Hyde Park as the renowned American rockers performed on the latest stop of their Fifty Years Tour, marking five decades as a band.
The group performed hits such as Take It Easy, Tequila Sunrise and Hotel California.
They were joined by special guests Robert Plant and Allison Krauss.
The Top Gun actor posed for a photo with McLeish, who then shared the image on his Instagram account.
Big Eck had even brought his aviators with him, in true Maverick style.
Accompanying the post of the picture of them both, McLeish said: "Great to meet @tomcruise at Hyde Park this evening. @eagles 🛩"
But Rangers fans were left all saying the same thing.
They were in no doubt as to who should've been happier to meet the other.
One supporter joked: "It was great for Tom Cruise to meet you. 😁🔴⚪️🔵"
Another fan said: "Hope he's not been pestering you all night Alex for a photo."
While another punter commented: "Only one legend in that picture and it’s no wee Tam."
And another said: "Big Eck and a fan."
A further fan said: "He’s a lucky guy he met a Rangers Legend 💙"
Someone event went as far as scripting how the conversation could have gone, with reference to McLeish's role in Helicopter Sunday.
"Wait.. are you the guy from Helicopter Sunday? Can I have a picture please?"
Who knows if they went for a Cocktail together after the gig.
Meanwhile, Rangers are in 'advanced talks' to sign highly-rated Scottish youth international Cameron Bell.
