Watch Darwin Nunez’s horror miss vs Man Utd on Liverpool debut after woeful warm-up clip of identical blunder goes viral
DARWIN NUNEZ had a nightmare Liverpool debut as he missed an open goal in the Reds' hammering by Manchester United.
Last season's Prem runners-up had a disastrous start to this pre-season as they lost 4-0 in Thailand.
Liverpool were 3-0 down at half-time before Facundo Pellistri added a fourth, but record signing Nunez had a chance to make the scoreline less damaging.
The ball broke to the Uruguayan on the rebound around eight yards out, yet somehow Nunez blasted over the bar with Tom Heaton on the ground.
Football fans were quick to mock Nunez and question why Liverpool spent so much money on the former Benfica star.
One supporter wrote: "This confirms it. Completely. He’s a fraud and there’s no coming back from this. Sorry Liverpool fans."

Another added: "They got scammed hard."
And a third said: "If this is what 100m is worth in today's game then sadly football is truly finished. €100m used to get you the best players in the world now they get you a Uruguayan Andy Carroll."
Unfortunately for Nunez it is not his only humiliating miss of pre-season with another clip of him striking the ball wayward going viral.
Remarkably, that miss was almost identical to the one against United, though he was at least trying to beat Alisson.

In doing so Nunez put too much power into his effort and smashed the ball over the crossbar from close range.
Fans reacted to that footage, which emerged earlier this week, in a similar fashion.
One fan tweeted: "That's embarrassing €100m for missing the easest goal."
And another added: "I would want my money back."
