AC MILAN'S leaked third kit could be banned by Serie A due to a new rule, according to reports.

The Serie A giants have stuck with their classic red and black stripes for their 2022/23 home kit, with the away jersey expected to remain white with red and black trim.

are claiming that their third strip is going to be the colour "dark green moss".

But the Puma-sponsored kit appears to have overlooked a key regulation which was announced two years ago.

The rule, which comes into force for the 2022/23 season, makes clear a ban on any green kits - excluding home strips.

The exception for home jerseys means that Sassuolo are able to keep their traditional green and black stripes.

The ban applies specifically to away and third kits - with keepers also still permitted to wear green shirts.

According to , the reason for the new rule is that TV broadcasters complained the players were blending in with the grass when wearing green colours.

Elements of green are allowed on kits providing its not the strip's dominant colour - which it clearly is on AC Milan's leaked jersey.

It remains to be seen whether the Italian champions will now be forced to change their strip.

Stefano Pioli's men come into the new season off the back of their first Serie A title in 11 years.

AC Milan beat bitter rivals Inter to the Scudetto, narrowly finishing two points ahead of their neighbours.

And the triumph took them back level with Inter on 19 league titles apiece - but still a huge 17 behind Juventus.
