BASTIAN SCHWEINSTEIGER would be welcomed to the MLS ‘with open arms’.
That’s according to league chief Don Garber, who feels the Manchester United outcast would be the perfect leader for young players across America.
Schweinsteiger has been strongly linked with a move to the MLS after being frozen out at Old Trafford by Jose Mourinho.
FC Dallas have made no secret of their admiration for the World Cup winner, who has been backed in his battle against the Special One by several compatriots including Ilkay Gundogan, Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski.
Mourinho has made it clear that Schweinsteiger will no longer feature for the Red Devils, with the 32-year-old exiled from the senior squad’s dressing room at Carrington.
And Garber has urged Schweinsteiger to cross the Atlantic and join the likes of Frank Lampard and Andrea Pirlo in the MLS, explaining that the veteran would be a major league hit.

Garber said: “Of course we follow Bastian’s situation.
“He’s an old acquaintance for the United States, for example through the 2014 World Cup, when he played against the US team. He also played against the MLS All-Stars with Bayern in 2014.
“We would welcome Bastian with open arms. He would be a leader for our many young players.”
