FEELING THE ZINCH

Man City nowhere near Brighton’s £50m Marc Cucurella asking price as they refuse to pay more than Zinchenko transfer fee

MANCHESTER CITY believe Brighton’s asking price for defender Marc Cucurella is around £20million too high.

And the champions are ready to walk away and look elsewhere for their new left-back if the Seagulls are not willing to compromise.

Albion are believed to want around £50million for the 23-year-old who was their player of the season last year.

Yet he only cost them £15.4million when he moved from Getafe less than a year ago.

City see his value more in the £30million bracket and that is the kind of budget they are working with as Oleksandr Zinchenko is moving to Arsenal for a similar fee.

So they are weighing up other options with Stuttgart’s Borna Sosa believed to be one name under consideration.

Guardiola is believed to be keen on Cucurella but has left it to director of football Txiki Begiristain to find a solution.

He said: “We will see about another signing.

“Txiki and his department are scouting, he’ll know what is best for the team.”

Stuttgart are believed to be ready to cash in on Sosa and they are reportedly willing to accept offers of around £21m for him.

However, City face stiff competition from elsewhere for his signature.

SunSport reported last week that Premier League rivals Chelsea were plotting a swoop for Sosa.
