Ten Hag tells Man Utd bosses he needs more attacking transfers and STILL does not know if Cristiano Ronaldo will return

ERIK TEN HAG says Manchester United have to buy more attackers before the start of the season to compete with the best.

The club have made three signings in midfielder Christian Eriksen, full back Tyrell Malacia and centre-back Lisandro Martinez.

But they have missed out on attacking options with Brian Brobbey deciding to return to Ajax from RB Leipzig rather than move to Old Trafford.

A move for Ajax's Brazilian winger Antony also collapsed.

And United boss Ten Hag said: "With the number of games, you need more options in offence.

“I think it’s vital if you want to get success, the season is really long. But we also have still time to fill that in.

“I am really happy with the performance of the midfield and offence at this moment.

"But I also know that this season there are a lot of games, there is a World Cup, so we need more options.

“We have a good team, we need a good squad to get the right results at the end of the season.”

Ten Hag still does not know when he will have Cristiano Ronaldo back training with them which is adding to the problem.

He said: “Of course. But concerning is maybe not the right word.

“I focus on the players who are here, they are doing really well, they are in good shape, I prefer to focus on that and develop that.

"I cannot wait for him to come in.

“When he does then we will integrate him.”
