Fulham complete £6.4m transfer of Wolfsburg right-back Kevin Mbabu as ex-Newcastle star returns to Premier League

FULHAM have signed Wolfsburg and Switzerland right-back Kevin Mbabu in a deal worth £6.4million.

The Cottagers, who secured their return to the Premier League after winning the Championship last season, have agreed a three-year deal for the defender with the option of a further 12 months.

Mbabu, 27, previously played for both Newcastle and but only made three Premier League appearances for the Magpies.

He then joined Swiss side Young Boys, before most recently spending three seasons at Wolfsburg.

And Mbabu is excited to return to England’s top flight as Fulham look to avoid another immediate relegation back down to the second tier.

Mbabu, who has been capped 22 times by Switzerland, is Fulham’s fourth signing of the summer.

Manager Marco Silva has already welcomed new faces Joao Palhinha, Andreas Pereira and Manor Solomon.

They have also been linked with a number of other players including West Ham centre-back Issa Diop and Arsenal keeper Bernd Leno.

But they will have to compete in the Prem without playmaker Fabio Carvalho after he joined Liverpool.
