MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly been given a boost in their pursuit of an ex-Ajax Barcelona star.
Yet, unfortunately for Erik ten Hag, it’s not Frenkie de Jong but team-mate Sergino Dest
claims United are keen on signing both players this summer.
But their pursuit of De Jong looks to result in a dead end with Chelsea set to hijack the deal.
Barca had also previously maintained a hardline position over right-back Dest’s future following Dani Alves’ exit.
However, the Spaniards are now open to an exit as they struggle to register new signings.

Free transfers including Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessie have clauses allowing them to leave for NOTHING if they are not registered before the weekend.
And Barcelona are desperate to raise funds by offloading those least needed by boss Xavi Hernandez.
Dest is one of those, with Sergi Roberto and Jules Kounde both capable of playing in his position.
And United are now being encouraged to move for the USA international, who joined Barca from Ajax for £22million in 2020.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is not thought to be in his plans for this season.
And Dest would provide an upgrade for the Red Devils on their right flank.
It now remains to be seen if United make an offer for Dest.
But Barca would ideally like to move him on quickly.
That’s because they still want to make two further signings in Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso and Man City’s Bernardo Silva.
