MANCHESTER UNITED have made contact with the agent of Valencia wonderkid Fran Villalba about a January switch to Old Trafford.
United have been tracking the 18-year-old midfielder for the past few months as boss Jose Mourinho continues rebuilding his squad.
And now Villalba's agent has claimed in an interview that the Premier League club have made the first contact as they begin the process of pushing through a transfer.
Villalba, who has represented Spain from schoolboy through to under-19 level, is believed to have a £3.6million buy-out clause in his current deal with Valencia.
Such a fee would easily be met by United, and Mourinho is now weighing up whether to make his move when the transfer window opens in January.
