Next Bournemouth manager – latest odds: O’Neil price crashes after impressive run but Wilder & Dyche remain in mix
GARY O’NEIL is now an odds-on favourite for the Bournemouth job after another shift in the betting market.
Bookmakers Sky Bet have the caretaker boss as the 1/4 favourite to take the job full time after an impressive spell in the dugout.
Sky Bet:
Chris Wilder had moved favourite following takeover reports at the start of last week.
Since then, he’s been sacked by Middlesbrough having left the club in the Championship bottom three.
So a return to the top flight would be a remarkable result for the 55-year-old.
He’s moved out to 9/2 for the job, having been as short as 8/5 last week.
But it’s ex-midfielder O’Neil that has been in temporary charge of the Cherries following Scott Parker’s dismissal and put himself firmly in pole position to take the reins.
They are now FIVE Premier League games unbeaten with a win at Nottingham Forest and draws against Newcastle, Brentford and Wolves.
They followed those up with another win coming from behind, beating Leicester at home last weekend.
Sky Bet:
have also claimed that the Bournemouth’s players want O’Neil to be offered the permanent job at the Vitality Stadium.
Bodo/Glimt boss Kjetil Knutsen continues to find himself towards the top of the market and is third favourite at 10/1.
He has been linked with several top British jobs – including the recent vacancy at Brighton – after his work in Norway and was also recently linked with the Blackburn and Burnley vacancies.
Sean Dyche had been the favourite for the role for much of the time since Parker’s dismissal but his chances appear to have gone and is now a huge 12/1 shot with Sky Bet.
He worked miracles on a small budget for years, keeping the club in the top flight consistently before losing his job last year.

Sky Bet odds
- Gary O’Neil 1/4
- Chris Wilder 9/2
- Kjetil Knutsen 10/1
- Sean Dyche 12/1
- Nathan Jones 20/1
- John Terry 25/1
- Marcelo Bielsa 25/1
Sky Bet:
Dyche has been out of work since April and has been linked with several top-end Championship sides since – including the recent opening at West Brom – though a move back to the Premier League is likely to tempt him.
And he said as much in a recent interview. He told SPORTbible: “There’s nothing that I wouldn’t look at.
“I managed in the Championship, the Premier League as well. I’d never disrespect any club. I’ve been around the game since I was 16.”
Luton Town boss Nathan Jones had attracted considerable support but has drifted to 20/1.
Jones was reappointed as Luton boss in May 2020 and they’re in the top half of the Championship currently.
Ex-Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa is a 25/1 shot.
