MANCHESTER CITY are monitoring Borussia Dortmund startlet Julian Weigl.
The 21-year old moved to the Westfalenstadion in the summer of 2015 from 1860 Munich for a mere £2million.
The youngster was earmarked for the future at Dortmund and his rapid development has astonished coach Thomas Tuchel who has been given no choice but to make Weigl and important part of his current plans.
Weigl has built on his 51 appearances last season by forcing his way into Joachim Low's Euro 2016 squad but didn't feature for the Germans in France last summer.
The youngster scored his first ever goal for Dortmund in the Champions League group win against Sporting Lisbon on Tuesday as the Bundesliga side went joint top in Group F with Real Madrid.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is a keen admirer of the midfielder. The Spanish coach had been keeping tabs on Weigl during his final year in the Bundesliga leading Bayern Munich to the title before joining City.
Guardiola is prepared to test Dortmund's resolve with a bid of around £20m next summer. However, the Germans are determined to hold on to their prize asset with the lure of a lucrative new deal trebling Weigl's money to £60,000 per week.
Dortmund Sporting director Michael Zorc spoke earlier this month stating: "We have the wish to tie him to a long-term contract. But we are not pressed for time because he feels extremely comfortable here."
