Paul Scholes and Robbie Fowler play in China after local farmers weed the pitch

Ex-Premier League stars were also joined by the likes of Dwight Yorke, Gary McCallister and Luis Garcia

PAUL SCHOLES and Robbie Fowler were amongst a host of footballing legends playing in a friendly match - after local farmers were finished weeding the pitch.

The clash was played at the Mission Hills Stadium in China ahead of a World Celebrity Pro-Am golf tournament starting on Friday.

Former Manchester United players Dwight Yorke, David May and Lee Sharpe rolled back the years along with ex-Liverpool players Gary McAllister and Luis Garcia.

Representing Team Blue was the likes of Scholes and Garcia who offered the delighted crowd great entertainment beating their opposition Team Red 6-3.

Ex-United midfielder Scholes was then mobbed for his signature as security struggled to keep the keen fans at bay.

But the former players turned their attentions to the golf course on Friday as they teed off in the Pro-Am tournament.

John Daly, Mark O'Meara and nine-time major winner Gary Player are all involved as are Teddy Sheringham, and Liverpool great Ian Rush.
