Jack Rodwell: Sunderland midfielder has gone a massive 1,241 days without starting in a Premier League win

The last time Rodwell started in a victory he was still a year from leaving Manchester City

JACK RODWELL is a bad luck charm.

The Sunderland midfielder, 25, last started in a game that led to a win more than THREE YEARS ago - a year before he moved to the Stadium of Light.

Incredibly, Rodwell last started in a victory in May 2013, while he was still at Manchester City.

That game, a 1-0 win against West Brom, came a full year before he moved to Sunderland in a £10million deal.

Once tipped to be a future England captain, Rodwell's career has stalled, with the midfielder blighted by injury and lack of form.

He won the last of his three caps in June 2013 but has not been called up to the senior squad since.

Rodwell has started six matches for David Moyes' team this season - all but one of them defeats.

His incredibly poor performances for the Black Cats have seen him now go 32 starts without a win for the club.

That is a Premier League record for players to start their career at a club.

Rodwell is above former Derby County captain Darren Moore (29 matches) who was a part of that Premier League-worst team that won just won game and gathered 11 points in 2007-08.

Rodwell's record of 1,241 is also more than Gareth Bale's at Spurs.

The Welshman - now one of the best players in the world - was once considered bad luck in north London and had to wait two years and four months to feature in a Premier League win.

Sunderland remain bottom of the league and winless after nine games this season.
