Manchester City stars show their push for glory might not have gone cold as they wrap up for training ahead of EFL Cup clash with United
Germany midfield ace lkay Gundogan dons a snood to help Pep Guardiola's men try to rediscover their hot form during training
PEP GUARDIOLA'S Manchester City side look like they have frozen in their tracks recently having failed to win any of their last five games.
And the mood appears to have cooled somewhat judging by these pictures taken yesterday ahead of their EFL Cup clash away to Manchester United tomorrow night.
Winter is certainly here if Iklay Gundogan's clobber is anything to go by. The German midfielder was wrapped up in a snood as he and his team-mates were put through their paces at the club's Etihad Campus.
Guardiola's men started the season on fire and they will be hoping to go on another hot streak going by getting their season back on track against United.
But while Gundogan may feel snug in training he may be left out in the cold against United as the articles of clothing are now banned.
Players started donning the neck warming garment in the Premier League late in 2010 but football chiefs banned them during games in March 2011.
Disgraced Sepp Blatter, who was then Fifa president said at the time: "A snood is not part of the equipment and it can be dangerous, even like hanging somebody. The decision was unanimous. There was not even a discussion because this is not part of the uniform."
So Guardiola's stars will have to make do with gloves - and perhaps do a bit more running to turn up the heat on Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho.
City were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Southampton as their Premier League hopes hit the ground. In fact, the only thing that was flying high at the training ground was a bunch of pigeons.
